The Energy Systems Sales & Training Division of IMTI, The Industrial Management & Training Institute in Waterbury (www.IMTI.edu) has announced a partnership with Motech Industries, Inc. of Taiwan to initially distribute, and eventually manufacture and distribute throughout the northeast United States.

Motech Industries, Inc. of Taiwan is the sixth largest manufacturer of solar products and services in the world in terms of production output, and they garner sales close to $1B each year. Motech is dedicated to the research, development and manufacture of high quality solar products and services ranging from Photovoltaic (PV) cells, PV modules, PV inverters to PV power systems.


The Industrial Management & Training Institute, opened its current location at 233 Mill Street in Waterbury in 1986. With a branch technical school in the Con Edison Training Center in Long Island City in Queens, New York, IMTI successfully trains electricians, plumbers, electronic systems and HVAC technicians in current technologies and job skills. All IMTI programs are career-oriented with classroom curriculums plus hands-on industry skills training. 

In July 2011, IMTI announced approval of their newly-created Solar PV Apprentice Training Program by the State of Connecticut Department of Labor, The State of Connecticut Department of Higher Education and the State of Connecticut Workforce Investment Boards. IMTI is one of the first institutions in Connecticut to offer a formal, apprenticeship program that qualifies course graduates the immediate ability to secure jobs in the solar PV industry. The program also includes NABCEP Entry Level Exam preparation and concludes with all graduates taking the industry certification exam. Nearly 80% of IMTI’s first PV graduates are currently employed in the Solar PV field.
